GCI will host a 5G SA (Standalone) Deployment workshop in cooperation with the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) during GSMA North America’s RIG #99, an annual regional interest group event being held in Anchorage. The workshop is free to the Anchorage telecommunications community and will focus on deployment of standalone 5G internet, which does not rely on 4G LTE infrastructure.

The event will be followed by a reception where peers can network, exchange ideas, and continue the conversation in a relaxed setting. The 5G SA Deployment workshop will bring together industry leaders, technology experts, and regulatory voices. The session will cover 5G SA global adoption, deployment challenges, cloud-native core evolution, migration strategies, operational readiness, RAN upgrades, and the real-world benefits of 5G SA at scale.
