Don Young Alaska Job Corps Community Relations Council Luncheon
The Don Young Alaska Job Corps Center invites employers, industry leaders, and community partners to its final Community Resource Council event of the year. Come see firsthand how Job Corps students are preparing for careers in today’s workforce. The center will showcase all eight trade programs and will highlight the accomplishments of students nearing completion of their training.
The event is about more than showcasing student talent—it’s about building connections between students and the employers who need skilled workers. Job Corps is looking to expand its work-based learning program and develop stronger partnerships with employers who are willing to help students gain real-world experience through opportunities such as job shadowing and career exploration, work-based learning experiences, internships and on-the-job training, mentorship and industry engagement, work experience and employment opportunities, and potential pathways to full-time employment. The expertise, time, and partnership of community members can make a direct difference in a young person’s transition from training to a successful career. By working together, Alaska’s next generation of skilled workers can be prepared while developing a stronger pipeline of talent for local employers.
