Events
At Alaska Business, we are aware of many business and community events taking place around the state. So below we're happy to provide our readers with as much information as we can about statewide plays, festivals, fundraisers, workshops, lectures, debates, conferences, conventions, business meetings, and whatever else may pique our interest—or yours.
Because of public efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and following the guidance of national and local leaders, many events are cancelled, postponed, or revamped for online attendance; we are keeping this calendar updated as we are made aware of changes.

As efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 are ongoing, please follow the health and safety advice of local leaders, including wearing face coverings and practicing social distancing; be conscientious and prioritize your safety and the safety of others.

Alaska Electric Utility Conference

October 31 - November 4

Utility pole in the winter in Alaska

Alaska Travel Industry Association

The 2022 Alaska Electric Utility Conference is being held live and in person in Anchorage. This biennial event is the premier conference for public power utilities throughout Alaska. The AEUC provides a great mix of learning and networking opportunities along with more than eighty trade show booths designed to help attendees get on top of the challenges, solutions, and opportunities that Alaska electric utilities face. Developed by a dedicated planning committee of Alaska utility employees, along with NWPPA and Alaska Power Association staff, this conference proves time and time again that it is a must-see event for all who provide public power to Alaska.

This year’s event, aptly themed Public Power: Regenerating Your Communities, will not disappoint. Through educational sessions, networking with Alaskan utility peers, and visiting with regional and national product and service providers in the trade show, the AEUC will provide the tools and resources needed to stay up to date on the latest best practices, services, and technology in the industry.

In addition to twelve regional corporations, the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) allocated lands and funds to more than 200 village corporations. As with their regional counterparts, the village corporations are mandated to make a profit and use it to benefit their shareholders and villages. It’s no surprise that, among hundreds of corporations, no two have chosen the exact same path to meet that mandate. Below are highlights and updates for a handful of the village and urban corporations.
