100 Plus Women Who Care Mat-Su is a group of inspiring women who care deeply about the Matanuska-Susitna Borough community. The group gathers four times a year for a one-hour meeting, and each member writes a $100 check (no cash or credit cards) to a nonprofit charity the group selects.
Here’s how it works: Each member can nominate a charity, and three charities are drawn at random at each meeting. The member who nominated the charity makes a five-minute presentation and answers questions about the charity, then all members vote by secret ballot for the charity they wish to support. The charity receiving the most votes agrees to have a representative provide a five-minute presentation at the next meeting about how the funds were used to benefit the community.
The combined donation makes a real impact, without time-consuming fundraising events and planning. The chapter’s mission is to provide for those in greatest need in the Mat-Su area.
