The Central Council of the Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (Tlingit & Haida) announced the promotion of Royal Hill Jr. to Construction Project Manager for Southeast General Contractors (SGC), the Tribe’s new construction company which aims to provide work experience and training opportunities to tribal citizens interested in entering the construction trade.

As the Construction Project Manager, Hill is responsible for overseeing all construction projects, including in-house renovation, new construction, and general maintenance projects for Tlingit & Haida and for-profit public bid projects.

Hill first joined the Tribe back in 2007 under the Employment & Training department and has worked since 2019 for the Tribal Transportation department.

Hill attended Haskell University seeking a degree in Business Administration and received an accounting endorsement through the University of Alaska Southeast. He has over 20 years of construction experience and has worked on many projects throughout Southeast Alaska, including 20 houses he helped build in Hoonah, Alaska for the Tlingit Haida Regional Housing Authority.
