Cornerstone Wins First Place in AGC’s National Safety Competition

ANCHORAGE—Cornerstone General Contractors took first place in the Willis Towers Watson Construction Safety Excellence Awards at the 100th annual Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) National Convention in.
The Willis Towers Watson Construction Safety Excellence Awards program recognizes construction firms that lead the industry in safety performance and management. Award recipients demonstrate a commitment to safety, occupational health management and risk control, with outstanding performance recognized across seven different divisions in twenty-one categories. Cornerstone won first place in the Building Division with 100,000 to 250,000 completed manhours, competing with contractors across the country.
While Cornerstone placed third in the national competition last year, a stellar safety record with no recordable incidents for the last six years and a comprehensive Safety and Health Program set them apart amongst Alaskan general contractors and brought home the top prize this year. Cornerstone demonstrates visible and highly refined commitment to safety.
Cornerstone’s culture of safety is a direct result of the owners’ philosophy. The program is planned and executed by highly professional project teams and an experienced safety manager. The general contractor also recently received their eighth consecutive Governor’s Safety Award of Excellence at the 2019 Governor’s Safety and Health Conference earlier this year, highlighting their dedication to safety as a company-wide virtue.
