Visitors to Talkeetna have had a new fast casual dining option this summer. Homestead Kitchen opened in May, part of a portfolio of Alaskan eateries owned by global hospitality company Pursuit.

Down-to-Earth Home Cooking

The restaurant features a rustic ambience influenced by the mountainous surroundings of the Talkeetna Range, recalling the past century’s homesteading heritage.

The menu centers on halibut, salmon, and cod. Dishes like the Miner’s Chili combine smoked reindeer sausage with Alaskan Amber beer, while the Beast Burger features decidedly non-local bison, elk, and wild boar.

“At Homestead Kitchen, we wanted to introduce new flavors from around the country, while maintaining a deep level of respect to Alaska’s traditional ways. Farm to table, fresh catch plates, and abundant use of locally sourced ingredients provide the foundation for Homestead Kitchen’s culinary experience,” says Executive Chef Richard Pace. “Our down-to-earth home cooking philosophy combined with our quick and casual concept will enable visitors to fuel up before embarking on their next adventure.”

Homestead Kitchen joins Pursuit’s other dining ventures in Alaska, including The Foraker Restaurant at Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, Prey & Pub Eatery at Denali Cabins in Denali Park, and Resurrection Roadhouse at Seward Windsong Lodge on the Kenai Peninsula.
