ABOUT THE COVER
Canada, Alaska's third largest trading partner, supports about 8,500 direct and indirect jobs in Alaska. Minerals was the top export category in 2008, making up 57 percent of the total, followed by seafood and petroleum products. Trade flows in both directions and is relatively balanced. For more information, read “The Alaska-Canada Connection,” which begins on page 11. Cover design by Candy Johnson.
