Alaska News

New this year at the Kid’s Ice Park at ICE ALASKA in Fairbanks is the Slide-a-Mile contest open to kids of all ages.  The 16 ice slides in the park vary in length from 5 to 117 feet in length.

Each slider that slides a total of a mile or more on the various slides will receive a written commendation signed by Governor Sean Parnell for their efforts.  This is a great way for kids, little and big, to not only get physical exercise, but also an exercise in mathematics and in ethically recording their accomplishments on their Slide-a-Mile cards.

Additional prizes will be awarded to those that slide the farthest during the contest period from March 1st until March 28th, or until the slides melt.  So come to the ICE ALASKA Ice Park on Phillips Field Road in Fairbanks and SLIDE-A-MILE.
