REMINDER: Airport Police & Fire Will Host Emergency Response Exercise at FAI
Monday, March 13, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
ATTENTION LOCAL RESIDENTS and BUSINESS OWNERS
An Emergency Response EXERCISE is happening in your area!
(Fairbanks, AK) - Monday, March 13, 2017, local police, fire and EMS agencies will be participating in an emergency response exercise. The training will take place at the Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) terminal and will commence at approximately 8 a.m. and end at approximately 4 p.m. During the time of the exercise you may see uniformed first responders (fire and police), staged emergency vehicles, and equipment as well as directional signs on-scene at the Airport Terminal and the surrounding area.
To ensure the safety of exercise participants and the community, traffic restrictions will be in place including directional signs to alert residences and businesses of the changes.
Your local law enforcement and emergency medical responders have been preparing for the exercise scenarios that focus on two areas of preparedness:
- Training employees in an active shooter program, and
- Training local EMS (medical personnel) to work in conjunction with Law Enforcement in a “Rescue Task Force” response.
The Rescue Task Force concept allows emergency medical personnel to enter an “Active Shooting Event” early on in an incident to provide medical care and extraction of patients under the cover of law enforcement. All exercises will be held in the FAI Terminal.
This preparedness exercise will evaluate multi-agency interaction and capabilities.
This event is Monday, March 13, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This is only an EXERCISE.
