Iditarod Day at Alaska Native Heritage Center


Anchorage – Join us in celebrating the Alaska Native spirit of the Iditarod! The Alaska Native Heritage Center’s annual Iditarod Day is this Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 11am-5pm. The Gathering Place performances include Sugpiaq dance group Imamsuat, the King Island Singers and Dancers of Anchorage, the Fireweed Dancers, Lepquinm Gumilgit Gagoadim Ts’msyen Dancers, and the Alaska Native Heritage Center dancers. Demonstrations such as the Alaska Native games, traditional storytelling, and an introduction to Alaska Native cultures will be ongoing throughout the day as well.

Village site tours will be available on the hour from 11am-4pm, demonstrating Alaska Native artists will be in the Hall of Cultures, and short films and documentaries featured in the threatre. Looking to roast some marshmellows? Join us for s’more roasting around Lake Tiulana! A special showcasing of “Spirit of the Wind” at 12:45pm in dedication to the late George Attla SR. Free admission provided by Target.
