Alaska Railroad kicks off annual Catch the Train Photo Contest
New partnership with Grand Denali Lodge offers exclusive Denali National Park centennial experience for grandprize winner
ANCHORAGE, ALASKA – Beginning today, the Alaska Railroad will launch its third-annual Catch the Train Photo Contest through its website and social media channels with a new partnership to celebrate the centennial of Denali National Park and Preserve.
The submission period begins today, Monday, May 15, and ends Sunday, Dec. 10. Entries can be submitted through a tab on the Alaska Railroad Facebook page (www.facebook.com/
Following the submission period, 12 finalists will be selected, all of whom will be featured in the Railroad’s 12-month 2019 calendar, appear in the Railroad’s onboard magazine Panoramas and receive round-trip rail fare for two. The grandprize winner, to be chosen from the 12 finalists via a public online vote, will receive the honor of the Alaska Railroad calendar’s cover, $1,500 and the Railroad’s new Denali Getaways package. This new package commemorates the park’s centennial with round-trip rail travel for four to Denali and overnight accommodations at the Grande Denali Lodge.
“We want our calendar to encompass Alaska and the beauty we at the Alaska Railroad witness every day. By using photography from local Alaskans and passengers from around the world who travel with us, we accomplish that,” said Dale Wade, Vice President of Marketing and Customer Service at the Alaska Railroad. “This year’s contest is particularly special with the addition of our friends at the Grand Denali Lodge, who are helping make the centennial of Denali National Park one to remember, both through the prize for the grandprize winner and the Denali Getaways experience for our passengers this summer.”
The Alaska Railroad will announce 12 finalists on or around Monday, Dec. 18, which will also kick off the online voting period for the grandprize winner. The winner will be announced on or around Monday, Jan. 8, 2018.
Entry for Catch the Train Photo Contest is free, and individuals may submit an unlimited number of photos. The 12 finalists will be chosen on the basis of artistic merit, originality, subject and style. Entrants must be 18 or older as of Dec. 10, 2017.
