GCI sponsors Seattle-area Acton Children’s Business Fair to support child entrepreneurs

Inaugural event hosted by Creative Children for Charity is set for Aug. 29 at Crossroads Bellevue

SEATTLE, WA– Young entrepreneurs will pitch business and product ideas to a panel of adult judges Aug. 29 during the first-ever Seattle-area Acton Children’s Business Fair, an event sponsored by technology services provider GCI and others.

The event, which is hosted by the non-profit Creative Children for Charity, is free, open to the public and will begin at 12 p.m. at Crossroads Bellevue.

“At GCI, we operate with an entrepreneurial spirit, so we are extremely proud to support an event like this to help inspire and educate our future business leaders,” said Dr. Pam Lloyd, who leads GCI’s government, health and education markets. “We can’t wait to see what great ideas these young entrepreneurs come up with.”

Participating youth entrepreneurs will set up booths and spend the day pitching to judges, including state Sen. Patty Kuderer and Karen Fassio, director of marketing at Microsoft.

An awards ceremony hosted by Bellevue Mayor John Stokes is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Participants will be evaluated on a variety of criteria. Judges will select winners in four categories: Best Pitch; Best Booth Presentation; Best Product; and People’s Choice.

There will be a cash prize for winners of the pitch, booth and product categories. The People’s Choice award winner will receive an iPad courtesy of GCI.

Acton Children's Business Fair is the philanthropy arm of the Acton Academy and Acton MBA programs. The purpose of the philanthropy is to promote entrepreneurial skills among children and to help them find their personal mission in life.

Creative Children for Charity (3C) is a youth foundation that supports non-profit missions by bringing kids and youth together through art and leadership programs in the community.
