ANCHORAGE CHAMBER “MAKE IT MONDAY” FORUM

40 Years Fueling the 49th State

Published:

ANCHORAGE – The Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) marked its 40th anniversary of operations on June 20, 2017. At 800 miles in length, TAPS is one of the world's largest pipeline systems, an engineering icon that was the biggest privately funded construction project when built in the 1970s. TAPS remains a living testament to the powerful Alaska spirit that has written our state's history and is fueling Alaska's future. Since pipeline startup in 1977, Alyeska Pipeline - TAPS' operator - has successfully transported more than 17.5 billion barrels of oil and loaded nearly 22,000 tankers at the Valdez Marine Terminal.

On Monday, July 24th, 2017 at the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce’s Monday forum, Alyeska president Tom Barrett will talk TAPS history and spotlight work that will sustain the system into the future, as well as share ongoing challenges and illustrate TAPS’ economic impact on Alaska.

The “Make it Monday” forum will be held at the Dena’ina Center from Noon to 1 pm. Doors open at 11:30 am. General admission is $35. $30 for Anchorage Chamber members ($32 at the door), and $15 for students with a valid ID. Lunch is provided with admission. To register for the event, visit AnchorageChamber.org or call (907) 272-2401.

The Anchorage Chamber's "Make it Monday" forum is the city's No. 1 weekly luncheon, offering current and relevant educational presentations from a variety of speakers. More than 45 programs are provided annually with the number of attendees ranging from 50 up to as many as 150 a week.
