Municipality Announces Anchorage Arts Grants Awardees


ANCHORAGE – Today, Mayor Berkowitz and the Anchorage Municipal Arts Advisory Commission announced the recipients of the 2017 Anchorage Art Grants. The Arts Advisory Commission reviewed grantee applications in a three day presentation and deliberation process before submitting recommendations.


“Arts organizations have a critical role in forging community identity and building a vibrant, thoughtful, and joyous Anchorage,” stated Mayor Berkowitz.


This year’s recipients are:


Alaska Dance Theater


Bringing together students and adults alike through the art of dance.

Alaska Native Heritage Center


Cultural center featuring Alaska’s Indigenous people.

Alaska Sound Celebration


Alaska’s premier women’s acappella chorus.

Alaska String Camps


Providing unique orchestral experiences for violin, viola, cello and bass students in Alaska.

Alaska Chamber Singers


Anchorage's foremost choral ensemble.

Anchorage Classical Ballet Academy


Anchorage dance education center for children, teens and adults.

Anchorage Community Theatre


Building community through theatre.

Anchorage Concert Association


Presenting internationally acclaimed artists in Alaska.

Anchorage Concert Chorus


Fostering excellence in choral music through world-class vocal performance, community events, and music education.

Anchorage Symphony Orchestra


Influencing the musical and artistic standards of symphonic music performance and education throughout our community and our state.
