MAD DOG GRAPHX WINS IN TWO DESIGN COMPETITIONS

Published:

Anchorage, AK – Mad Dog Graphx was recently honored in the 2016 Davey Awards. Three logos from the design firm’s Anchorage and Seattle offices won Silver in the prestigious international competition. One of the logos went on to win Silver in AIGA Alaska’s annual design competition, The BIG One – Alaska’s only professional competition for graphic design.

Logos created for Thrively Digital (formerly Apokrisis), Cultural Alaska, and the Washington Alliance for Gender Equality were all selected for recognition this year at the Davey Awards.

Aurora Hablett of Mad Dog Anchorage created the logo for Thrively Digital, a recent rebranding of Anchorage-based web development and online marketing firm Apokrisis. Hablett also designed the logo for Cultural Alaska, a small firm working to preserve traditional resources and customary practices by partnering with tribes, communities, organizations, businesses, and the public to ensure they have a greater voice in federal and state regulatory processes.

Kris Ryan-Clarke of Mad Dog Seattle designed the winning logo for the Washington Alliance for Gender Equality (WAGE). WAGE’s goal is to coordinate the 300-plus diverse groups in Washington state that work toward gender equality, so they can learn from each other, create innovative new projects, identify areas where their efforts may be overlapping, and ensure that services are available to any group or individual who needs them.

The logo for Cultural Alaska also won Silver in this year’s AIGA Alaska design competition, The BIG One.

Founded in 1914, AIGA is the oldest and largest professional association for design. AIGA works nationally through local chapters to advance design as a professional craft, strategic advantage, and vital cultural force. Mad Dog is a founding member of the Alaska chapter. This was AIGA Alaska’s seventh annual design competition.

With nearly 4,000 entries from across the U.S. and around the world, the Davey Awards honors the finest creative work from the best small agencies, firms, and companies worldwide. The Davey Awards is the leading design competition specifically for smaller agencies as they compete with their peers to win the recognition they deserve.

Linda Day, executive director of the Davey Awards, noted, “The winners in this year’s competition truly reflect the notion of small agencies executing big ideas. The work entered into this year’s Daveys portrays the smart approach to creativity that embodies the capabilities and talents of small firms across the world.”

Michael Ardaiz, Kris Ryan-Clarke, and Aurora Hablett are the creative team behind Mad Dog’s biting edge designs. With offices in Anchorage and Seattle, Mad Dog offers a range of creative and production services, specializing in corporate, retail, and brand identity development, and advertising and marketing design.
