Laughs cure election season fatigue
Reduced Shakespeare Company satirizes politics and the history of America Oct. 6-8
ANCHORAGE, AK – Who will be our next President – A Democrat? A Republican? A Kardashian? Reduced Shakespeare Company’s “The Complete History of America (abridged): Election Edition” will provide the historical context that is guaranteed to confuse any American voter. Just in time for the November election, the Reduced Shakespeare Company, presented by the Anchorage Concert Association, returns to Alaska Oct. 6-8 with 600 years of history in 6,000 seconds.
“An apt description of what the company does is intellectual vaudeville. They are smart, cheeky clowns who present themselves as a collective repository for most of American mass culture,” described a review in The New York Times.
The "bad boys of abridgment" will take audiences on a 90-minute roller coaster ride through the glorious quagmire that is American history, and answer important questions such as: Who really discovered America? How old was John McCain at the beginning of the Civil War? How many Democrats does it take to screw in a light bulb? History is normally written by the winners ... now it's the Reduced Shakespeare Company's turn.
“History has never been this much fun. Or as delightfully mutilated.” – Montreal Gazette
