I hope this finds you well. If you’ve not heard yet, I am hoping to self-publish another Iditarod book: Icons of the Iditarod. I believe this book will be a very special book for all Alaska History buffs, Iditarod fans and Adventure lovers.

It’s a project that I’m most passionate about after 36 years of photographing the race and being intimately involved in watching it progress through the years. The book is called “Icons of the Iditarod.”

The Icons of the Iditarod book will include memorable people, dogs, places, gear, events and even food from the Last Great Race® that have shaped Iditarod history. All of the people and dog portrait photos will be in the classic black and white.  And some photos will be in color where appropriate. It will have a photo and a very detailed, informative story behind each of the Icons. It will have photos like this one of the Widow’s Lamp. The Widow’s lamp, not to be confused with the Red Lantern, is lit and hung on the finish line when the first musher leaves Anchorage and is not extinguished until the last musher (the red lantern winner) crosses the line and blows out the lamp.

Although it’s still in its concept stage, Icons of the Iditarod has been outlined, visualized, some of the photos chosen and the writer, editor and designer team has been assembled. Now the challenge is covering the expense of producing it.  In order for the book to be published, it must be fully-funded on the Kickstarter website. There are only 5 more days to go and the fund is presently at 65% funded. There are 2 ways you can help us make this book a reality and finish strong:

1. Please share this with your friends.

2. If you’ve not done so already, please back the project with a pledge and receive a book or two in the process. Please take the time to review the video and read the information on the kickstarter page at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1990427755/icons-of-the-iditarod

If you have already backed the book, I am VERY grateful for your support. THANKS

Thanks so much for your support of my Iditarod photography.

All the best—

Jeff Schultz
