A LETTER FROM OUR PRESIDENT

AMA Board President, Holly ParsonsAs our program year begins to wind down, I must admit, it feels like a lot of things are slowing down. But, I've lived long enough to know that there is a season for everything and when things slow down it's only to prepare you for the hectic activity that will inevitably come.   

Our chapter has only one more luncheon for this program year, on May 14th and I want to take this opportunity to personally extend an invitation to you. Not only do we have a phenomenal speaker and program lined up, but it's the last luncheon I will preside over as the President of AMA Alaska. It would mean a great deal to me to have you there.

So, you think you know advertising? Teams of three will battle it out to showcase your marketing prowess. Come prepared with your marketing text books and knowledge of current marketing campaigns.  Teams are randomized based on a multiple of your height times your hair length.

Google's Industry Development Manager, Melissa Moody, will present a new framework for how to understand the travel consumer in today's digital world.  Her presentation will be packed with compelling data points, helpful resources for marketers, inspiring examples, and concrete takeaways; her goal is to demonstrate how consumer behavior is changing online and how Alaska businesses and tourism can keep up with such dramatic shifts.   

Participants will walk away with a better understanding of Google consumer insight tools and how to leverage digital advertising channels more effectively.
Presenter: Melissa Moody has worked at Google, with a focus on the Travel industry, for the past eight years.  

In her role as Senior Industry Analyst, she analyzes online consumer behavior, market trends, and the competitive landscape in order to deliver strategic marketing insights and recommendations to Google's top travel advertising partners globally.  

She works regularly with both OTAs (Expedia, Orbitz, Priceline) and DMOs (Visit California, Visit Florida, and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority).
