Are you a student that is interested in graphic design or a design professional looking for a way to give back? Check out AIGA Alaska’s Mentoring Program!
The goal of the AIGA Alaska Mentoring Program is for students to learn how to take a project from concept to completion, then be able present their final work. The mentor program will run from the Fall Kickoff event until the Student Portfolio Review in the Spring where students will present their projects. There will be at least two informal check-in points during the program to help make sure projects are on track. Mentors and mentees are encouraged to meet regularly.
The AIGA Alaska Mentorship Program is currently accepting applications for mentors and mentees. Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, September 2nd. The program will launch Tuesday, September 6 with a Program Kickoff where mentors and mentees will get to meet.
Mentors and mentees will be expected to:
attend the AIGA Mentorship Program Kick-Off Event: Tuesday, September 6 at the BP Energy Center, 6-7:30 PM
meet at least 8 times to discuss your project (meetings can be in person, or by video conference)
be able to commit to and participate until the program concludes in April
attend the Student Portfolio Review in April
have an interest in design
be a full-time student
have at least 3+ years professional experience in graphic design or a related field

Looking for a way to volunteer for AIGA Alaska? Get on our designer list! We are looking for designers willing to give their time and talents creating amazing artwork to help promote our events.
The criteria is simple. Designers must be current AIGA Alaska members and have the time to indulge in volunteer design projects. Designers will be matched with events as they appear on the calendar, depending on the designer's style and availability. Projects will come with a design brief and as much creative freedom as possible. And of course, designers will receive recognition for their contribution to the event.
If you are interested or would like to nominate a designer, please send contact information and samples of work to firstname.lastname@example.org by September 1.
