Updating income information may lead to lower payments through the Health Insurance Marketplace
SITKA, January 9, 2015 – SouthEast Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) would like to make sure Alaskans that signed up for the Affordable Care Act Health Insurance Marketplace last year are aware that is it necessary to update their income information before February 15, 2015.
Many people have received notices that their insurance premiums have increased. In order to receive the lowest price available, it is important to call the Health Insurance Marketplace at 1-800-318-2596 and provide 2015 income information, even if it has stayed the same. Information may also be updated online or by calling SEARHC at 966-8883 or 966-8662 for local assistance.
Updating this information will automatically recalculate your tax credit against the premium cost which may then provide more assistance paying your monthly premium. If you do this before January 15th your lower premium will start February 1, 2015. If you update your information between January 15 and February 15, 2015, your lower monthly cost will start on March 1, 2015.
