Juneau – Representative Sam Kito (D-Juneau) has been selected to serve a two year term on the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission’s Legislative Committee.  Rep. Kito will serve as the committee’s Vice Chair.

“The Legislative Committee plays a key role in advising the commission on how to develop insurance standards that are good for the industry but also good for consumers.  In most instances, individual states regulate the insurance industry, which is why it’s important for the commission to gather the input of state lawmakers through an advisory committee,” said Rep. Kito.  “I am pleased to serve on the Legislative Committee, part of this important state-based initiative.”

The Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission is made up of 45 member states.  The organization works to promote uniformity in insurance products and acts as a central point of electronic filing for some insurance products.
