New Current Population Reports by U.S. Census Bureau released online
This week, the U.S. Census Bureau released a collection of new Current Population Reports based on results from the 2014 Survey of Income and Program Participation for the U.S. Findings include:
- Eighty-six percent of recipients of Social Security retirement benefits were non-Hispanic whites in 2013 (Participation Rates and Monthly Payments From Selected Social Insurance Programs)
- Nearly a quarter of people younger than 18 were in poverty in an average month in 2013 (Monthly and Average Monthly Poverty Rates by Selected Demographic Characteristics: 2013)
- About 69 percent of women and 59 percent of men are the biological parent of at least one child (Fertility Research Brief)
- Median net worth of U.S. households in 2013 was $80,039 (Improvements to Measuring Net Worth of Households: 2013)
