Anchorage, Alaska (Feb. 28, 2017) - With a goal of providing an exceptional shopping experience, shoe boutique ShuzyQ will focus its resources to serve Anchorage from a single location, its South Anchorage store.
ShuzyQ currently offers its hand-picked selection of fashion and comfort footwear, as well as a curated collection of apparel, handbags and accessories, from two storefronts: its original downtown location and the South Anchorage location next to South Restaurant at 11124 Old Seward Hwy. The mother-daughter owned stores are also known for hosting First Fridays, pop-up shops, private parties, and events benefiting local charities.
“The hard part of the decision was leaving the vibrant downtown shopping district,” Co-owner Dawn Walsh said. “The easy part was knowing what a great customer experience we can provide if we channel all of our energy into one store. We do so many special events between the two stores, but we can do all that and make it feel like more of a special experience all the time.”
ShuzyQ co-owners Walsh and daughter Shawna Rider look forward to building up community around the South store, working together with neighboring shops. They are refocusing their energy on creating a unique customer shopping experience, including private after-hours shoe parties. In addition, Walsh and Rider plan to dedicate more energy to ShuzyQ’s involvement in community events and partnerships with local organizations and non-profits. They have ideas for events beyond the annual block party, bringing together arts, entertainment and shopping.
Even with changes underway, customers can expect much to stay the same. ShuzyQ will continue to carry the brands Anchorage residents love, from practical, waterproof leather boots by Bos & Co., to heels with personality by Katy Perry. They can also look forward to ShuzyQ finding and debuting new brands, leading the way in fashion, craftsmanship and technology
“Anchorage women are fashion-forward, but also active and outdoorsy — at shoe shows we’re always searching for styles and brands that can fit those needs,” Rider said. “Sometimes we’re the first to introduce a brand in the U.S., right here in Anchorage.”
As part of the transition, ShuzyQ Downtown will extend its annual sale, scheduled for March 3rd - 5th, through the end of the month. Once daily operations have ceased at the downtown location, ShuzyQ will continue to host occasional pop-up shopping and sales events.
ShuzyQ will hold a Grand Re-Opening party at the South Anchorage location on May 5, 2017, to welcome longtime and new customers.
