Northrim Bank co-founder Marc Langland was recently named a recipient of the Meritorious Service Award from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Mr. Langland will receive the award in recognition of his years of service to the Alaska business community as part of the University of Alaska Anchorage’s Spring Commencement ceremony on May 6.
Mr. Langland retired from Northrim Bank in 2015 after co-founding the bank in 1990 in a midtown trailer and growing the company to the state’s second-largest community bank today. He has held leadership positions on the boards of organizations throughout the state, including the Alaska Permanent Fund Corp., Alaska Air Group, Horizon Air, Alaska State Chamber of Commerce, Commonwealth North and the Fiscal Policy Council of Alaska. As a community leader, Mr. Langland dedicated himself to a combination of financial stability for the community and state and, while at Northrim, supported UAA’s Institute of Social and Economic Research and its work on analyzing the state’s economy.
“Marc is deserving of this award for his contributions to Alaska. His leadership shaped the bank’s advocacy for a long-term fiscal plan for Alaska. We are proud to continue his economic leadership with our long-time support of ISER and its efforts to provide analysis of the Alaska economy,” notes Joe Schierhorn, Chairman, President and CEO.
