UAA's economic impact event

On March 21 Alaska Common Ground hosted “UAA & Our City's Future” at 49th State Brewing Company. More than 50 community members attended this public event, which facilitated conversation about the University of Alaska Anchorage, its economic impacts on Anchorage, and what potential university budget cuts could mean for the city’s economy and businesses.

Meet our new staff!

Emma Kelly, BED Director

Emma has joined the AEDC team as our new Business & Economic Development Director. Emma loves to be involved in her community and is the current chair of the Anchorage Chamber Young Professionals Group. Prior to joining the team at AEDC, Emma worked in Marketing and Public Involvement in the private sector.

Samantha Luban, BED Coordinator

Samantha has joined the AEDC team as our new Business & Economic Development Coordinator. Samantha is graduating from UAA with a Bachelor of Business Administration in economics and a minor in Russian. She's worked as a research assistant in the Experimental Economics Laboratory, where she assisted professors in conducting social science experiments.

Connor Keesecker, LWP Coordinator

Connor is our new Live. Work. Play. Coordinator at AEDC. Connor was born in Anchorage and raised in Eagle River. He attended UAA and earned a bachelor's degree in international studies with minors in political science and history in 2016. While attending UAA, Connor served as a news reporter and later station manager of UAA’s radio station, KRUA 88.1 FM.

Summer job directory

Do you offer summer jobs or internships through your organization? Live. Work. Play.’s Workforce Development Area of Focus is introducing an online Summer Job Directory. Submit the basic info about your summer position and the compiled list of jobs will be distributed to high schools, university groups and neighborhood organizations.
