Anchorage, AK —WHPacific’s Sandi Velleca, FCSI, CCS, CCCA, SCIP, was invited to present at the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) conference for DoD program briefing and Guidespec Seminar. Sandi’s years of experience as a specifications writer and her position as a Fellow of the Construction Specifications Institute (FCSI) netted her this opportunity to provide input into the DoD’s design guidelines. Sandi has extensive experience in working with Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) during her 25 year career at WHPacific.
The afternoon session provided a forum for the architect, engineering, and construction industry to interface with DoD counterparts in reviewing and identifying weaknesses in the UFGS in order to deliver state-of-the-art facilities that meet Alaska’s cold climate challenges. Sandi’s presentation focused on improvements to the specs for the pre-engineered metal building.
“It was a tremendous opportunity to have all the design disciplines in one location presenting great ideas and having dialogue with colleagues and the DoD personnel (both those presenting and those attending).” Sandi said about her experience. “I would love to do it again.”
