Rich Monahan joins Kumin Associates
Kumin Associates has added a valuable contributor to their design team with the recent hire of Rich Monahan, Associate AIA, CDT.
Rich brings over 30 years of experience in producing design and construction documents for a wide range of building types, with a strong focus on Department of Defense projects. His DoD portfolio includes military housing; education and child development centers; medical, command, maintenance and aircraft facilities; vulnerability and condition assessments; and programming charrettes.
Rich is a Certified Document Technologist, with in-depth familiarity with REVIT, AutoCAD, SpecsIntact and Masterworks. A long-term Alaskan with a passion for design that works efficiently in arctic and subarctic climates, Rich has also worked on many other private and public sector projects throughout Alaska.
Since joining Kumin, his design services have included a concept design for a hotel property, the lighting upgrades project at the Fairbanks Federal Building, and Career Technical Education (CTE) facilities at West-Romig School in Anchorage and the Metlakatla High School on Annette Island.
Rich volunteered at local downhill ski areas as a member of the National Ski Patrol for 23 years, including for the Arctic Valley Military Ski Patrol, Chugach Patrol at Hilltop, and Sourdough Patrol at Alyeska. Now retired from ski patrolling, he spends off-time with his wife and daughter in Wasilla, and enjoys building computers and reading sci-fi and mystery novels. Leadership and staff at Kumin appreciate Rich’s experience and focus, and are pleased to have him on the Kumin team.
