AECOM hires Elizabeth Bella as a Senior Ecologist

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA (June 24, 2015) — Dr. Elizabeth Bella has joined AECOM’s Anchorage, Alaska, office as a Senior Ecologist.

Bella has Fifteen years of applied ecology and regulatory experience with public lands agencies and private industry. She brings her valuable collaborative project experience with tribal, state, non-profit, agency, and community partners to the firm’s Alaska organization. Prior to her position at AECOM, Elizabeth was most recently an ecologist with the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska. Previously she studied invasions patterns as a postdoctoral scholar with the Bio-Protection Research Centre at Lincoln University, NZ. She has a Ph.D. in ecology from UC-Davis focusing on invasive species biology, an MS in forestry from the University of Montana, and a dual BS in forestry and biology from SUNY-ESF. She has prior work experience with the USDA-Forest Service as an ecologist and HDR Alaska, Inc. as a wetland scientist. Elizabeth has extensive experience working in vegetation science, vegetation response to climate change, climate change resilience and adaptation planning, botany, wetlands, invasion biology, restoration, and natural resource management issues.

Her responsibilities at AECOM include climate change adaptation and resilience community planning pursuits and projects, environmental science project contribution and leadership, wetland delineation and permitting, field work support, and mentoring junior scientists.
