Rasmuson Foundation Announces 16 Tier 1 Grants

In the fourth quarter of 2016, Rasmuson Foundation made 16 Tier 1 awards for a total of $193,935.

The Tier 1 program is a signature of Rasmuson Foundation’s grantmaking and provides grants of up to $25,000 for capital projects, technology upgrades, program expansion and creative works. Applications are accepted year-round. Below are just some of the grants made from October through December of 2016.

Copper River: Wrangell Institute for Science and Environment Technology upgrades in Kenny Lake. Copper Center $10,000

Interior: Fairbanks Arts Association Production of "Our Voices Will Be Heard," at Alaska Federation of Natives. Fairbanks $13,550

Interior: Noble Paws Inc. Trailer for canine therapy in Fairbanks. Fairbanks $4,200

Kodiak: Threshold Services Waste oil furnace for recycling center in Kodiak. Kodiak $8,598

Southcentral; Mat-Su Borough Kids Kupboard Vehicle to deliver meals in Palmer. Palmer Palmer $12,000

Southcentral; Mat-Su Borough Valley Community for Recycling Solutions Facility signage in Wasilla. Wasilla Wasilla $13,230

Southcentral; Municipality of Anchorage Alaska Center for the Performing Arts Grand piano. Anchorage $25,000

Southcentral; Municipality of Anchorage Downtown Soup Kitchen Commercial tilting kettle in Anchorage. Anchorage $15,000

Southcentral; Municipality of Anchorage Standing Together Against Rape Inc. - STAR Technology upgrades in Anchorage. Anchorage $15,000

Southeast: City and Borough of Sitka Display cases for the William Stortz Gallery. Sitka $15,000

Southeast: Gastineau Human Services Corporation Furnishings for a residential treatment facility. Juneau $15,000

Southeast: Juneau Symphony Inc. Office improvements, furniture and equipment. Juneau $15,000

Southeast: Sitka Trail Works Technology and equipment upgrade. Sitka $8,770

Statewide: Alaska Avalanche Information Center, Inc Avalanche safety and training equipment in Valdez. Valdez $4,750

Statewide: Association of Fundraising Professionals - Alaska Chapter Professional development training and scholarships in Anchorage. Anchorage $9,000

Statewide: Renewable Energy Alaska Project Technology upgrade. Anchorage $9,837

TOTAL: $193,935
