Free Community Skate Day
Dimond Center Celebrates its 40th Anniversary
ANCHORAGE, AK - Established in 1977, Dimond Center turns 40 this year. Founded by Joe & Patty Ashlock, this family-owned business has thrived over the decades, and wants to thank the community that has made it possible by celebrating this milestone with them.
Thus, this Friday, April 28th from 12pm to 9pm, the whole community is invited to come skate for free at the Dimond Ice Chalet, including skate rental. The Ice Chalet was built in 1986 due to the Ashlock's love of skating and Dimond Center wants to share it with its visitors.
Dimond Center wants to show their gratitude to all the Alaskans that have kept their doors open, so the best way is to celebrate it with them is to do so as many ways as possible. From now until August 12th, the day Dimond Center first opened its doors, there will be 40 giveaways. This has been made possible with the support and donations of tenants and also local businesses, as well as Dimond Center. The giveaways will be weekly from now until the end of July and daily in August until the 12th.
Of course an anniversary wouldn't be the same without a party, so there is a special celebration planned for the exact day of opening in 1977, August 12th.
Over the next several months Dimond Center will be remembering and sharing its history in new section of their webpage, 40 Years Alaskan, as well as on social media. This is where each week the new giveaways will be announced.
Last, but not least, Dimond Center wants to give back to Anchorage and support local non-profits that help Alaskans in need. Starting in May, each month a different non-profit will be featured, and will be given a donation from Dimond Center. These charities will be presented with a check on August 12th.
