AFP ALASKA SUPPORTS NON-PROFIT FUNDRAISING PROFESSIONALS THROUGH SCHOLARSHIPS

Published:

(Arlington, Va.) – The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Alaska Chapter announces scholarship recipients from across Alaska’s non-profit.

Every year, AFP, the largest association of professional fundraisers in the world, invests in fundraising as a profession through scholarships awarded to professionals across Alaska’s non- profit sector. Scholarships are awarded in various categories toward things such as: continuing education, professional development, fees for attaining certification, attending conferences such as Alaska Philanthropy Day held in November or having the membership fee covered for a year.

Chapter president Ken Miller said, “This investment in our colleagues is critical at a time when non-profits may not be able to continue supporting their fundraiser’s career development. And yet, it is also the time when non-profits most need the trained guidance of a professional fundraiser to lead their organization’s development planning. This year especially as we celebrate our chapter’s 30th anniversary we are happy to help grow the awesome people who are part of AFP Alaska Chapter.”

Peter Host of Wasilla Area Seniors, Inc. and an AFP Alaska Chapter scholarship recipient, speaks to his gratitude for the association’s award for attend the upcoming fall Alaska Philanthropy Day by saying, “In November I get the opportunity to hear national speaker Martha Schumacher right here in Anchorage. Without this scholarship, my organization would not be able to benefit from what I will learn during the conference.”
