AARP Launches New Ad Campaign in Alaska
Television ad spells out what a 50+ couple in may face if the Senate passes the American Health Care Act
ANCHORAGE, AK -- AARP has launched a new advertising campaign in Alaska that urges Sen. Lisa Murkowski and Sen. Dan Sullivan to vote “no” on the American Health Care Act (AHCA) in the Senate.
The :30 second ad features a couple (The Hutchins) in their 50’s as they visit with their accountant in his office. The accountant explains the changes the Hutchins will face if the Senate passes the American Health Care Act as written. The accountant explains that since the Hutchins are over the age of 50, insurance companies can impose an “Age Tax” under AHCA, charging individuals age 50+ five times or more what others pay for the same coverage. The accountant also explains that insurers cut tax credits that helped lower premiums and under AHCA can charge thousands more if a policy holder has a pre-existing condition.
The ad is scheduled to run in Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau markets May 23 – June 1.
