Update on Glenn Highway Capacity Improvements - 5/14/15

Work is continuing

Published:

5/12/15- What you need to know this week:

Due to rain last week, the lane shift is rescheduled for today, Tuesday, May 12th, after 9 p.m. Construction crews have completed the temporary lanes, and signing and striping will occur late tonight. Be aware that these lanes shift to the right and have narrow shoulders. Please do not stop between Hiland Exit and Artillery Road.

If you travel the area at night, please be aware that there are temporary lane closures after 9 p.m. Please be alert and drive defensively.

What you will see:

Work is continuing near the Hiland Overpass, on the new bridge, and on the north side of the existing bridge, near the Artillery ramp. Here are a couple highlights that the construction crews are working on:

  • New Glenn Highway third lane excavation near Hiland is continuing along with the portion near Artillery.
  • Bridge columns are complete, and rebar installation and concrete work continues for the pier caps.
  • Installation of the south abutment is beginning.
