Local Designers to Construct Three Sculptural Seating Installations in Anchorage Parks

Challenge Grant Recipients Embark on Crowdfunding Campaign to Help Fund Project

Published:

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Benches for All is a community based project by local design/build practice Intrinsic Landscapes. Benches for All was awarded a Challenge Grant from The Anchorage Park Foundation in May of 2015.   This grant will match funds up to $21,700 for the creation of three site specific communal seating elements.  Designers Chad Taylor and Vania Hawkins are currently reaching out to the community for support in raising the match.

Anchorage is blessed with a world class trail system boasting over 250 miles of trails,  10,946 acres of municipal parkland and 223 individual parks.  The primary goal of this project is to create engaging, playful, and insightful communal gathering points in Anchorage Parks and along its trail system.

While funding is typically allocated for active recreation facilities, it is the view of Intrinsic Landscapes that Anchorage should possess world class site amenities offering recreation for everyone regardless of their age or abilities.
