Building and Construction Trades Council of Southcentral Alaska Raise’s Funds for the Food Bank of Alaska
Local construction unions are determined to help those who need it the most. The recent fundraising drive led by the Building & Construction Trades Council of Southcentral Alaska will culminate with the presentation of donated funds to the Food Bank of Alaska in early September. A short ceremony is planned for 12:00pm on Sept. 9 at the Food Bank’s facility at 2121 Spar Avenue in Anchorage.
Council President Aaron Plikat said, “With our donations, lives can be changed. We are trying to reach a goal of more than 13,000 meals for Alaskans in need. We challenge any other businesses throughout the community and state to match us or do better. By doing so, together we can all make a difference.”
Other construction-related businesses and trade unions are encouraged to get involved and contact The Food Bank of Alaska at (907) 272-3663 to make a donation.
The Building and Construction Trades Council of Southcentral Alaska sees the difference that its members can make and they are doing something about it.
Since before this state was even recognized, the construction unions have been donating to the community in a variety of ways. Unions are always fighting for the betterment of the working class. In today’s economy this is more important than ever.
