Beyond Addiction, Alaskans Embrace Recovery Month

Recover Alaska and partners across the state offer Recovery Month events for all

ANCHORAGE—Recover Alaska and organizations around the state are hosting a number of events dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of alcohol and substance misuse in honor of National Recovery Month. From a public concert featuring the band Medium Build to a storytelling event and Recovery 5K, September will aim to celebrate Alaskans in recovery from alcohol and substance use disorder and mental illness.

“The journey to recovery is not easy; Recovery Month provides a vehicle to celebrate the people on that path and the team that surrounds them,” said Tiffany Hall, executive director of Recover Alaska. “We want to educate our community about recovery, how it works and what it looks like, and provide a place for those in recovery to celebrate their achievements.”
