Extra Edition: Alaskans Support Arctic OCS Development

Native communities in Alaska, including the Voice of the Arctic Iñupiat, overwhelmingly support the oil and gas industry, including offshore development in the Arctic. So much so that an analysis of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) consultation dockets shows that the Bering Straits Native Corporation, Aleut Corporation, Olgoonik Corporation, Arctic Slope Regional Corporation and Ahtna Corporation are all supportive of offshore development in Alaska's Arctic, as compared to opposition from only the Native Village of Kotzebue, and Native Village of Point Lay.  Listen to engineering professor, Dr. Matt Calhoun of the University of Alaska Anchorage discuss the issue:
