Ravn Alaska hosts Women in Aviation Day

Published:

Aviation is an industry deeply rooted in Alaska’s history, but women make up less than 5 percent of commercial pilots worldwide. Ravn Alaska is committed to expanding opportunities for women in the aviation industry, and is hosting Women in Aviation Day at its Anchorage headquarters on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

In partnership with Women in Aviation International Alaska Chapter and the Medallion Foundation, Ravn Alaska will offer resources to learn more about the many career paths available in the aviation industry.

“Many women in Alaska are particularly familiar with working in historically male-dominated fields,” said Erin Witt, a chief pilot for Ravn Alaska. “We want to provide every opportunity for women to thrive in this field, through mentorship and career support at entry and senior levels.”

Ravn Alaska will provide facility tours and employment information and attendees will be able to try out flight simulators and speak with industry professionals. The event will also feature fun door prizes and giveaways.
