State to hold medical emergency preparedness conference in Anchorage
Largest event of its kind ever put on by the state
The Public Health and Medical Preparedness Conference is designed to help Alaska medical providers learn how to prepare their organizations for public health emergencies such as earthquakes, terrorist events or pandemics.
National and Alaska speakers will discuss emerging topics within the health care preparedness community, including crisis standards of care, scarce resource allocation, and health care coalitions.
A portion of the Alaska Medical Station, the largest self-contained deployable emergency system in the Pacific Northwest, will be set up in the Howard Rock ballroom and available for tours.
Keynote speakers will address the hospital response to the Boston Marathon bombing, lessons learned from the Aurora, Colo. movie theatre shooting, and Operation Bull Dog Bite — an airborne medical rescue in Afghanistan.
