New Lease for Adak Seafood Processing Plant

The Aleut Corporation today announced that its subsidiary, Aleut Fisheries, LLC (“AF”) has entered into a twenty-year Lease Agreement with Adak Cod Cooperative, LLC (“ACC”) to operate its Adak, AK seafood processing facility.  The lease includes the structure containing the processing equipment, lay-down space, 38 housing units, dock frontage and fueling services.

“We’re excited to welcome an experienced player in the Alaska fishing industry to Adak”, said Aleut Enterprise President Rudy Tsukada.  “There has been a lot of interest in the plant since the most recent operator departed.  We believe ACC’s proposal represents the best long-term value for our shareholders and community stakeholders.”

Said John Lowrance, President of ACC,  “Joe Kelso and I are pleased to be partnering with AF, the City of Adak, and the local fishing fleet to grow the operation of the Adak facility, starting with next year’s pacific cod “A” season.  Our proven business model that specializes in high value seafood products is well-suited to the Adak facility.  We are looking forward to a long and productive partnership to fully develop the potential of the far-western Aleutian fisheries.”

The Aleut Corporation is one of the 12 Regional Alaska Native Corporations based in Anchorage, Alaska.  The Aleut family of companies offers extensive product and service capabilities including IT, communications, base operations support, mechanical contracting and construction, oil field services, and water testing, to a range of customers and government agencies.
