FCVB Announces Community AFN Opportunities
Fairbanks, Alaska (AK) – The Fairbanks Convention & Visitors Bureau (FCVB) is actively recruiting volunteers for the upcoming 2013 First Alaskans Institute’s Elders and Youth Conference and Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN) convention slated for October 21-26, 2013 in Fairbanks.
Golden Heart Greeters will be needed at the airport to meet incoming flights and to offer assistance and information at the Carlson Center during the events. All Golden Heart Greeters attend two and a half hours of free training – a cross-cultural communication training session (one hour) and a final briefing (one and a half hours) for the upcoming event. To volunteer to be a Golden Heart Greeter contact Charity Gadapee at 907-459-3758.
The AFN Cross-Cultural Communication Committee will provide three one-hour training opportunities in October to Golden Heart Greeters and frontline businesses throughout Fairbanks to help ensure the comfort, safety, and satisfaction of delegates and attendees during the convention. Courses will be offered at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center on October 2 at 5:30 pm, October 5 at 10 am, and October 14 at 5:30 pm. To sign up for a free training session contact Charity Gadapee at 907-459-3758.
Business managers can have their staff trained on-site at an appropriate time, such as during a shift change. The length of on-site training can be customized to meet your staff’s needs. For more information about training content or to schedule a training session, contact Elizabeth Cook at 907-388-1197 or email email@example.com.
