ELECTRIC POWER MONTHLY – September 2013
The Electric Power Monthly, September 2013 edition presenting July 2013 data, has been released. Highlights include:
- Total net generation in the United States decreased 5.5 percent in July 2013 compared to the previous year. This decrease in electricity generation occurred because last July was the hottest on record.
- In July 2013, net generation from wind-powered sources was up 27.7 percent compared to July 2012.
- Consumption of coal for the generation of electric power was down 3.7 percent from July 2012.
- The average U.S. retail price of electricity in July 2013 was up 3.9 percent compared to July 2012.
