Bristol Bay Marketplace announces 3rd business idea competition
The Bristol Bay Marketplace business idea competition is for residents of selected Bristol Bay communities to compete for funding to start or expand Bristol‐Bay based businesses. The competition is managed by Financial Alaska.
Sponsored by the Pebble Limited Partnership, the contest is intended to foster small business development by providing funding for the startup, maintenance and/or expansion of resident-owned small businesses. The Competition is designed to inspire new business opportunities for select Bristol Bay communities and challenges entrepreneurs to compete for several awards ranging up to $50,000. Entries must be submitted by 5pm on October 31, 2013.
“Pebble is pleased to be able to provide a program like the Bristol Bay Marketplace to assist the entrepreneurs from the Region get started,” says John Shively, CEO of the Pebble Partnership.
The Bristol Bay Marketplace competition is modeled after the Alaska Federation of Natives’ Alaska Marketplace. A panel of application reviewers consisting of Financial Alaska staff and business volunteers will determine the winning entries based on a set of criteria that addresses business capacity and experience, financial viability, economic development, and job creation for residents.
Contest information and application material will be available online starting in early September.
