Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska Receives $2,000 All Stars Program Grant from Buffalo Wild Wings to Support Local Youth Football League
Anchorage, Alaska - Through its “Team Up for Kids” initiative, Buffalo Wild Wings is supporting the implementation and growth of high quality youth football leagues, such as Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska’s football program, which is designed to teach young people character, team building, and game and life skills. Under the All Stars Grant Program, Club staff and volunteers were required to successfully complete the National Alliance for Youth Sports (NAYS) Introduction to Coaching Youth Sports training and education program, and have implemented this coaching philosophy for the first time this season. Funds from this grant were used for new football pads, which are lent to participants at no cost each season.
According to program administrators and the leadership at Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska, participation in organized sports programs has a deep impact on the youth who are involved. For young people, sports programs can promote a positive self image, adoption of healthy lifestyles, strong character and moral compass, a commitment to life-long learning, positive relationships with family, friends and co-workers, an appreciation for cultural diversity, and engaged community and global citizens.
