Anchorage, Alaska - Boys & Girls Clubs – Alaska is gearing up for our 31st Annual Auction “Great Futures” Gala to be held at the Sheraton Anchorage Hotel this Saturday, September 14. This year’s theme is “GREAT FUTURES GROW HERE.”
The black-tie fundraiser will provide much-needed funding for our organization, which serves about 10,000 youth in 33 clubhouses across the state of Alaska through athletics, childcare and clubhouse programs. Boys & Girls Clubs provide safe places, fun, healthy activities and mentorship for youth during non-school times, with three areas of focus: Commitment to Academics, Healthy Lifestyles, and Character and Leadership Development.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for guest registration, sparkling wine reception, games and silent auction. Hundreds of items donated by local businesses will be available, as well as a “Garden of Gift Cards” featuring gift certificates from various business sectors in the community. Dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m. and the program will begin at 7:45 with a speech from our 2013 Youth of the Year, David Dohrman. A live auction will follow, and the evening will conclude after entertainment from local band “Locomotion Alaska” and dancing.
