Module 6: Cross-Cultural Communication with China
September 26, 2013 (Thursday)

Module 6 is designed together with our partners at UAA Confucius Institute to help companies, organizations and individuals to successfully do business with China. In 2011, China became Alaska's largest trading partner and it's importance increases every year. This module will inform those who decided to make China the target market for their goods and services, how to successfully communicate with the Chinese and understand their mindset, cultural "dos and don'ts", and other practical information. Knowing cultural and psychological aspects of the Middle Kingdom will be beneficial for succeeding in Alaska's largest export market.

Module 3: Trade Documentation & Shipping Overseas

Module 4: Using Social Media to Market Your Company

Module 4 was designed to inform Alaskan companies on how to best utilize social media to promote their businesses. The presenters offered both theory and practical tips on best methods to use to connect with customers using Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and other media.

Module 5: International Sales, Promotion & Local Resources / Establishing Int'l Distribution Channels & Market Entry Strategies

Module 5 focused on successful strategies for promoting and selling products and services overseas, as well as establishing international distribution channels and market entry strategies. Export financing was also discussed. From understanding whether or not the company is export ready, to learning about local and overseas resources to assist exporting efforts, this module introduced the challenges and opportunities of selling into overseas markets.
