Downed cottonwood in the Chuitna River cut off power to 111 Chugach customers in Tyonek and at Granite Point.

Tyonek outage over Friday evening
About 7:00 this evening power was restored to 111 customers in Tyonek and at Granite Point after a Chugach crew successfully cleared a fallen cottonwood from a distribution line crossing the rain-swollen Chuitna River and repaired the line.

As of 5:30 p.m., an outage continues to affect 111 Chugach customers in Tyonek and at Granite Point. A crew has been on scene since this morning attempting to free the power line from a downed cottonwood in the Chuitna River.
