Grand Opening Indoor Turf at the Harry J McDonald Memorial Center
Eagle River has new recreational opportunities with the grand opening of the Harry J McDonald Memorial Center‘s indoor turf facility.
Sept 29th marks the Open House celebration from 4 PM to 6 PM with the ribbon cutting, by Mayor Dan Sullivan, at 4:30pm. There will be fun activities, for all ages, on the turf throughout the day starting at 9:00am. Meet with sports groups and sign up for winter indoor activities.
The “Mac” has been well known for its Olympic size ice rink and has been a popular center for hockey and skating enthusiast from around the city. The addition of the indoor turf brings a variety of recreation opportunities that Eagle River sports groups have been waiting for.
Completed in mid-September of this year the facility includes a 32,000 sq ft multi-use turf, two- lane running track, locker rooms, officials’ room and community room for parties and meetings. The total cost of the construction was $6,350,000 dollars
