Fairbanks Chamber Names Carlson Center as the October Member of the Month
The Chamber’s “Member of the Month” Award program recognizes and honors businesses for their outstanding efforts in promoting a healthy, economic environment and for promoting the greater Fairbanks area as a great place for business and community. The Carlson Center was named the October “Chamber Member of the Month” on Tuesday, October 2nd at the Chamber’s General Membership Luncheon that was held at the Carlson Center.
The “Member of the Month” award program seeks to promote businesses or organizations that uphold the mission and values of the Chamber, model high ethical standards, practice excellent customer service, volunteer in the community and are socially responsible, committed to local economic growth, and supportive of greater Fairbanks residents and businesses.
The Carlson Center is a fixture in the Fairbanks community—hosting a wide variety of events that significantly enhance our local economy. The Carlson Center opened its doors in June 1990 and for the past 20 years has continuously sought to build the Center’s business and community involvement with a steadfast commitment to the Greater Fairbanks area. Each week at the Chamber’s General Membership Luncheons, the Carlson Center goes above and beyond to ensure each lunch is a success.
With over 150 employees, the Carlson Center is an active participant in Fairbanks charities and non-profits. The role these volunteers have played in improving the Fairbanks community cannot be overstated—on an annual basis, Carlson Center staff volunteers for over two dozen local organizations and programs and donates $4000 in tickets to over a dozen events and programs as well as significant in-kind donations throughout the year. Their efforts can be seen in organizations and events like Big Brothers Big Sisters, 2014 Arctic Winter Games, FCVB Golden Heart Greeters, Fairbanks Rescue Mission, Fairbanks Drama Association, the Literacy Council of Alaska, and the Fairbanks Chamber as a platinum level investor.
In 2010, the Carlson Center and SMG of Alaska were awarded for outstanding support and sponsorship of military members and military affairs by the Ft. Wainwright Family & Morale, Welfare & Recreation Office.
